Jeux Sans Frontières

Piero Nasuti, D'AMBROSIO ENZO ARCHITETTO PENNADOMO
This is a Sepia Saturday post
Here are a couple of photos from my Halifax 1950's Collection.
Someone receives a booking from the referee .And A boy helps carry a goalpost prior to a game.

Finally .A Photo Of Me in my School's Rugby League team in Halifax. Can You Spot me?I used to love playing Rugby League..I am a mild mannered person but the moment I put on my shirt I turned into a raw-meat-eating animal!
In Other News.............More Council Cuts. This time I have a 1 in 5 chance of being made redundant (the "letter" came today.)[at least this time,.a 12 month period of grace for the lucky winner.......]So It Goes.........
I,m going over to Italy again soon,'been talking to a local architect  about roof work that needs doing (at some point).it's a pain doing this at a distance..a couple of people I trusted with this have badly let me down......(I Will Remember)So.as a result, things are still on hold.. moving again soon I hope.
On a more positive note, remember my Fortean weekends in London & Newcastle over recent years ?[example:] ? Well! Bob & Me having been talking this week.It looks possible we are going to extend the Fortean-concept this year.Fairly likely that 6 of us blokes go in September to Transylvania ! Life Is Interesting!
This all  gives a illustration of my character, when I have  things to do,in Italy ,I begin arrangements to meet Dracula ! " Better the Devil You Know.............."Non?

They had a hammam in Madrid that was really just a fancy spa. Also, it cost 27.50 euros.

I think you should win some sort of prize for the coolest blog "titles."

Must have been a while ago, Tony. No one is arguin with the ref!

The little fellow takes it very seriously. What is called football in Europe is here soccer; Football is Rugby. I think at the time it was not yet all about money.

I can't figure out if the boy is quietly proud to be carrying the post or not enjoying it at all.

Carrying a goal post -- I didn't realize they were portable.

Okay I swear you must be the third boy (from the left) sitting on the bottom row! The last boy on that bottom row is not a happy camper! The little goalpost boy is darling! Have you posted the man with him before? Seems I've seen him before. ...and really a raw-meat-eating animal?!! Funny! Your trip to Transylvania sounds exciting...we'll need photos for you to share!

Oh yeah, Peter Gabriel's video, what an entrance on to a stage...nicely done....must have been quite a set to see live!

Are you sure that kid isn't stealing the goalpost?

I'm guessing you are front row, far left?

Sorry Karen,I'm Not the third boy (from the left) sitting on the bottom row! :)

I think you are at the left end of the front row.

I liked the baby in the Brillo box in your album.

Postcardy said...

Now I think you are third from left in the back row.

I think you are second from the left in the last row. They all look like meat eaters to me. Great post Tony.

The little lad looks very serious - and all rugby players are rampant carnivores :-)

And you didn't even get a card with your booking in those days ...

I played rugby league at my primary school. We played at Burley Park in Leeds, which shortly afterwards was measured to have the highest soot deposits in the country.

It's grim up north ...

That little chap thought he was very important- the one carrying the goalpost I mean - not you in your team photo! Boo hoo, I can't play the Peter Gabriel vid as it's been blocked here 'due to copyright'.

Transylvania! Wow, that will make for an interesting trip. I believe TopGear once had a show featuring a crazy road there nicknamed Ceaușescu's folly.;)
Me thinks you are the third boy from the left in the top row, or the next last one in the same row;)
Have a great Sunday evening dear Tony,
xoxo

Wonderful pics, I especially like the one of the boy and man carrying the goal post for some reason - I guess its the difference in size of the two.

Great mix. My favorite is your team photo with the knee scabs and variation in sock heights.

I had you second from left front row, I know I'm wrong.
